This is an old-fashioned "Musicale" - an afternoon of entertainment as it might have been enjoyed on a spring day 100 years ago.
Vocalists Lou Ann Gurney, Hal Glatzer and Kathy Frankovic will perform songs which were popular at the turn of the last century. Accompanying will be ragtime pianist Bill Westcott of Toronto. A great stylist of Scott Joplin rags, he'll be playing the Shipman family's Parlour Grand - the very piano that Queen Liliuokalani herself played when she visited.
A $10 donation is requested at the door, however reservations are strongly encouraged as seating in the parlor is limited. Reservations should be made by mail, accompanied by a check payable to Shipman House, 131 Kaiulani St., Hilo, HI 96720. Reservations also may be made directly with Lou Ann At The Emerald on any Sunday.
Shipman House is the first house on the left after crossing the one-lane bridge into Reed's Island. Parking is limited and car-pooling is highly recommended.
